The Story Behind Alkaline N' Me
Every brand has a beginning. 
Ours began long before the first product was ever created.
Long before Alkaline N' Me existed, I was surrounded by women who believed in the wisdom found in nature.
My grandmother, Elvon Walker, had countless home remedies and shared her knowledge of herbs, minerals, and natural wellness with me. My mother, Dianne Smith, continued those lessons by teaching me to respect what nature provides and to understand that caring for our bodies often begins with the choices we make every day.
Because of them, turning to nature wasn't something I discovered later in life.
It was simply how I was raised.
Everything changed on December 5, 2017, when I underwent bariatric sleeve surgery.
The surgery transformed my health, but it also transformed my body in ways I never expected.
I experienced significant hair loss, changes to my scalp and skin, skin discoloration, and tooth deterioration. While I was grateful that the surgery helped me overcome high blood pressure and diabetes, it also challenged me mentally, emotionally, and physically in ways that few people truly understand.
Many people believe weight-loss surgery is the easy way out.
From my experience, nothing could be further from the truth.
Your entire life changes in a matter of hours.
The surgery may last only a short time, but the commitment lasts a lifetime.
The day after surgery, I no longer needed medication for high blood pressure or diabetes, and I haven't needed it since. That blessing is something I will never take for granted.
But maintaining my health still requires discipline every single day because this journey never truly ends.
As I searched for products that could support my changing hair, scalp, and skin, I found myself disappointed.
I couldn't find products that reflected the quality, ingredients, or philosophy I believed in.
So I stopped searching.
And I started learning.
I immersed myself in studying botanical herbs, minerals, plant oils, and formulation techniques. I combined what my grandmother and mother had taught me with countless hours of research, testing, and product development.
What began as a personal journey slowly became something much bigger.
In April 2019, Alkaline N' Me was born.
Why the Name Alkaline N' Me?
People often ask where the name came from.
During one of the most transformative seasons of my life, I found myself reconnecting with the strength, wisdom, and resilience that already existed within me.
I chose the name Alkaline N' Me because it represents that personal journey of looking inward, reconnecting with nature, and honoring the knowledge that had been passed down through generations of my family.
For me, it has always been about finding balance, caring for the body with intention, and working with nature rather than against it.
The Beginning
Alkaline N' Me officially launched with three handcrafted products that I affectionately called "The Trinity."

Those weren't simply the first products I made.
They were the products that restored my confidence, helped the people closest to me, and proved that everything I had learned could truly make a difference.
When I saw what these products did for me, my family, my friends, and my coworkers, I felt a responsibility to share them with others.
Growing Beyond Three Products
As I began participating in farmers markets and community events throughout the Houston area, customers kept asking for more.
More products.
More education.
More wellness solutions for their families.
So I listened.
One product became several.
Several became collections.
Today, Alkaline N' Me has grown from three handcrafted products into 16 individual botanical wellness products and 18 thoughtfully designed wellness bundles, with new innovations continuing to be developed.
As the company evolved, so did our identity.
That's when Botanical Wellness became part of our name—not as a marketing slogan, but because it accurately reflected who we had become.
We weren't simply making hair products anymore.
We were creating botanical wellness solutions for the entire family.

Many of our botanical blends are prepared using a cold-infusion process, allowing herbs time to infuse naturally rather than rushing the process. We believe patience is part of quality, which is why we produce our products in small, fresh batches instead of mass-producing them.
Why We Choose Blue Glass
The ingredients inside every bottle deserve the same care as the formulas themselves.
Whenever practical, we package our products in blue glass bottles and jars because protecting the quality of our botanical formulations has always been one of our priorities. Blue glass helps reduce light exposure to light-sensitive botanical ingredients, and we believe the container should reflect the same commitment to quality as the product it holds.
When glass isn't practical, we carefully select other packaging materials that best suit the product while staying true to our standards.
We don't choose packaging because it's the least expensive.
We choose it because it reflects what we believe about quality, craftsmanship, and respect for the products we create.
